Tungsten Carbide Raw Material Cost is raising Crazy in the last year.
From the Middle of last year, 2025, the carbide raw material cost is raising Continuously more than 10 Months.
Till this Month March 2026, the tungsten carbide cost increase is more than 500% compared to the early last year March, 2025.
Now, many of our customers who have carbide components needs machining have to accept the new costs because of the increase of carbide raw material costs.
And we also have a suggestion to reduce the costs by using the PMHSS (HRC 65~67) or HSS (HRC 63~64) material to replace the carbide (HRC 70~79 = HRA 87~91.5 ) material.
There are several Kinds of PMHSS or HSS models that can be chosen as follows:
- PMHSS (Powder metallurgy high-speed Steel): Model: ASP60, CPM REX 76 (HRC 65~67)
- HSS (high-speed Steel): Models: SKH9, SKH51, 1.3343 (HRC 63~64)
According to the analysis, the PMHSS may be the best substitute for carbide material just now.
Now several of our customers have accepted the PMHSS ASP60 to replace the tungsten carbide material.
Anyway, this is one of the very good solution till now for our machining industry in response to the rise of tungsten carbide materials.
